For over 50 years as Cameroonians contact with our State has gripped us with fear. Fear of reprimand, fear of being insult, fear of not obtaining the service that we have come to see which is ours by right.
For those who braved this first level of fear and dared to demand their rights, came the fear of losing privileges, the fear of being arrested, the fear of being violated and yes, the fear of death.
Yes, we have lived in fear for 56 years. Cowering to gross mismanagement, corruption, injustice, underdevelopment and regression in the name of fear.
Our government has continued to bully, insult, intimidate and violate us through the use of fear.
There a comes a time in every people’s journey, where they stand and face fear.
There comes a time in every people’s journey where they decide to run towards fear.
There comes a time in every people’s journey when they overcome the fear, and come into their own.
Agbor Balla, Fontem and MANY others raised their voices in the face of fear. The people followed, faced their fear and found their own voices.
No Mr. Policeman, we will not cede to fear.
No, Mr. Gendarme we will not cede to fear.
No, Mr. Prefet we will not cede to fear.
No, Mr. Governor we will not cede to fear.
No, Mr. Minister we will not cede to fear.
Mr. President, please be informed, we will not cede to fear.
THE TIME HAS COME WHEN WE WILL NOT CEDE TO FEAR!
